I have a left-wing bubble of friends (though as I'm fairly consistently a Labor voter, I think they consider me a conservative), but most of my family in Victoria (and most of my employers past and present) are Liberal voters, so it's been a weird one. My cousin was complaining yesterday about the Libs being voted out; OTOH, even though I'm pretty sure my aunt and uncle still voted conservative, they did spend the last several years complaining about what an incompetent ScoMo was, so while I didn't have hope, I had seen evidence that a lot of Liberal voters were alienated by how useless he'd been as PM during several crises in a row. And I do think a lot of the religious stuff was alienating to a lot of conservative voters in the country who are also atheists (inc. members of my family).

I have seen bits and pieces about the Liberal party believing the problem is they weren't right wing enough. Time will tell if that works out for them, but I think that's yet another sign they're clueless fuckwits.

ETA also I think some of the swing against the Liberal party in Victoria is because of how a lot of people in this state felt like federal politics left us out to dry during our long lockdowns. There was a lot of bullshit about treating Victoria as a dirty, diseased place, unlike those pure clean other states that were worthy of attention, and I do not think people here will forget that for a very long time.
