I was really impressed with the performances in 'The Dropout' (though with all love for Naveen Andrews, he IS one of the most handsome men alive, and there are plenty of wonderful actors who could have been cast without requiring such a heavy lift from makeup and wardrobe to try and convince us he's a schlub) -- but I had a lot of the same issues you did with the storytelling. (I also got my back up a little because I think Tyler Shultz is a genuinely admirable person, at least as far as his role in this incident + the decision to portray him as kind of a lightweight doofus instead of engaging with his 'child of privilege' status in a more interesting way wasn't my favorite).

I thought both Carreyrou's 'Bad Blood' book and the original 'Dropout' podcast were much better versions of the same story if you're interested in nonfiction treatment.

[EtA: basically I realized writing this that I'm way more interested in the whistle-blower in this story and to a secondary degree in the people who enabled Holmes, rather than Holmes herself so a show that focuses on supposedly digging in to her psyche is 1) doomed because who the hell knows what this woman was thinking and 2) not really digging into the parts of the story I found most dramatic or interesting]
