dolorosa_12: (australian politics)
From: [personal profile] dolorosa_12
I was already living in the UK at that point (but still had voting rights in Australia). The memory of that day is burnt into my brain: due to the time difference, the results started rolling in around 9-10am on the Saturday morning in the UK. That day, I had to travel on a train on a trip that took around an hour. I got on the train at the point that Tony Abbott was confirmed to have lost his seat, and settled in gleefully, thinking, this is going to be great. By the time I got to my destination an hour later, Labor had lost the election and I was crying on the station platform.

I'm no fan of Bill Shorten (I met him before he became a politican and was super unimpressed), but he should have won that election.
