(the day after) Graduation Day
Yesterday I had my graduation ceremony at uni. It was all sandstone buildings and grass courtyards and ivy-covered walls and free champagne and academic gowns and hoods and hats. I actually cried when we had finished and had to join the procession of people (all the lecturers from the English department). It felt like I really had done something with my life.
And it was so good to see all the English people again. Most of them I hadn't seen since last November (although an outing involving four jugs of SangrĂa and five people from English had taken place on Thursday night). Some of them were working on their PhDs, some were working in publishing, one guy had a cadetship at the ABC, others were finishing their law degrees or working in preparation for trips overseas. So overall we did quite well, and hopefully have proved the doubters (who claimed that doing an arts degree is a waste of money) wrong.
And it made me want to be back at uni!
(I'll have some photos the next time I post, when I get time to upload them onto my computer!)

free champagne? hmmm I wonder how much you have to drink to balance the cost of hiring the gowns.
